So, I decided to paint my own bracelets...
Why not make a tutorial/DIY of it... :)
I had some wooden bracelets laying around and decided I wanted to "pimp" them!

So how to make these yourself:

Materials needed:
- wooden bracelets

- paint (I used DecorFin Universal by Talens) but I'm sure other paints (like acrylics) will be fine too.

- Small paintbrushes

- tape

- a knife

Step 1:
Take your tape and try to come up with some sort of pattern you like.
I decided to cut smaller strips so I could play with the blank spaces between the painted areas.
Make sure the tape is sticky enough and be sure there's no room for paint to get underneath the tape.

Step 2:
Decide what colors of paint you want to use. I decided to just go with 2 colors.
Then start filling the "pattern" you've created by using your brushes and paint.
Sometimes you've got to do multiple layers of paint to cover it all up.

Step 3.
Remove the tape.
I like to remove the tape when the paint hasn't fully dried yet.
If the paint has bleeded a little your can try to remove it by using the tip of your knife to scratch it off.

If the bracelet has fully dried it's done. If you want to make sure the paint won't crackle you can use a coat of clear varnish.

Human Anatomy

Here are some sketches I'm currently working on.
I've always been fascinated with the human body and the anatomy of it.
Thinking of maybe making a series inspired by the human body.
Will keep on making sketches first.

Here's a scan of the sketch I've posted some days ago :)

Ben Howard Design Competition

Hey there all...
I'll prob update with some new sketches and ideas soon, but I wanna start with this design.

I've made this one for a competition!
Here are the details of this competition

'Secret 7" is an exciting project combining music and art in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. Seven bands and recording artists (Ben Howard, Florence + The Machine, The Cure, DJ Shadow, CSS, Noah and The Whale and Bombay Bicycle Club) are inviting creatives to design the artwork for a seven inch vinyl sleeve inspired by one of their songs. The project will culminate in 700 unique vinyl sleeves displayed in Idea Generation Gallery in London in the week leading up to Record Store Day 2012. On that day, each of the vinyls at the gallery will be available to purchase with all of the profits going to Teenage Cancer Trust.

None of the buyers will know who created the sleeve, or even which song it's for, until they are holding it in their hands - the secret lies within.

In this challenge, Ben Howard has selected the track ‘Black Flies’ and is inviting creatives to interpret the song, however they please, via an original piece of seven inch artwork. This is an incredible opportunity for aspiring artists and designers to collaborate with Ben Howard, to have their artwork seen by millions, be exhibited alongside established artists and in the process, raise valuable funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.'

As you can see it was an awesome competition to enter.
There are 3 days left to vote. So...If you like my design, please !

2012 Resolutions

Normally I'm not the type of girl that'd come up with new years resolutions because I actually don't believe in "changing" your life when a new year starts.
I mean if you wanna achieve something you can do it, you don't have to wait for a new year.
Anyway, I decided to actually make a little list of things I would love to achieve in 2012.

- I want to update my blog and website more often
- I need to make more sketches!
- I want to start a 365 days challenge (don't know what challenge though...so feel free to come up with some ideas)
- I want to keep experimenting with paper and papercutting
- I would love to get some cool illustration assignments
- ..... Okay it's gonna be a short list for now ;)
