I decided to make a tumblr where I can save all the pretty inspiring things I find online. I've been saving everything pretty in maps all over my computer for years now, so why not online? Link to my tumblr is: http://illustratelove.tumblr.com
A new papercut I just finished. It's not totally what I was going for but I actually like the abstract feeling of this one. A better picture will come soon...battery of my camera just died
Somehow I always find myself making illustrations without a real background. And with background I don't mean just a background colour. Somehow I tend to "forget" the whole package, and just go with the idea I already have. So.. I'm gonna challenge myself to think about the background more and come up with a new full colour design.
I don't actually know why, but some time ago I decided to illustrate a camel. Just because they look so funny and all. Here's the result (so far) I'm not totally satisfied yet because it's just an illustration of a camel. I feel there's just something missing.
Woohooo, sorry I'm just really excited. Today I opened one of my favourite blogs like I do everyday and look what I found there:
Yes! That's my illustration in a post on the Pikaland blog. Thank you so much Amy. And it's true what you write. I also tend to like people's work more when I can read about them and what they like.Should keep that in mind everytime I update my blog without adding some explanations!
Here's a little preview of something I'm working on in illustrator! I'll probably finish it tomorrow. If I'm satisfied with the outcome I'll post the result.
I'm actually practicing a lot with Illustrator these days. Will update someday soon with some of the sketches! Any tips are welcome... I hope I'll learn how to convert my sketches into illustrations in Illustrator soon. (like the more complex ones) While I'm practicing I'm eating some of these delicious M&M Cookies I made yesterday. They're quite tasty!
I love buying books, especially art books... Unfortunately I'm not that rich, so I can't afford to buy every pretty book I come across. So here are some books I want to buy if I'd someday start making some more money!
Impressive - Printmaking, Letterpress and Graphic Design Gestalten ISBN: 978-3-89955-368-0 It's a beautiful book featuring a lot of great artists. I love the mixture of hand work and print work in this one. Very inspiring.
Naïve - Modernism and Folklore in Contemporary Graphic Design Gestalten ISBN: 978-3-89955-247-8
Another pretty book by Gestalten. I just love the vibrant colours and the mixture of styles. Would be awesome to have such a treasure on my bookshelf.
Tangible - High Touch Visuals
I unfortunately never had the chance to see this beauty in real life. Though it sounds really awesome from what I've heard of it.
I recently bought Papercraft 2 (which I totally love) and a book about making pop ups! Hope to add other pretty books soon.
I haven't been updating much recently. Main reason: I didn't make anything worth posting. Somehow I can't seem to come up with some nice designs and ideas. Hope I'll be able to make some new work soon. Here's the beautiful paper I bought today. It's Daler Rowney Murano Coloured Paper. They've got some beautiful colour combinations. I decided to go with their Warm colours, Chocolate, Bordeaux, strawberry, raspberry, cinnamon, nutmeg
